As y'all might know, we try VERY hard to only use non-toxic personal care products. For several years, the idea of using non-toxic products was appealing but not a priority financially. However, it became absolutely necessary for me when I started having severe eczema in my mid 20’s. With lots of research and the help of my naturopath doctor, I found that what I was putting ON and IN my body was having a huge impact.
The problem was, most of the natural skincare and makeup options that I found in my budget didn’t work worth a darn. A lot of the products either just made me a greasy mess or were so ineffective that it was a waste of time and money to even use them. Honestly, I’ve tried so many products that didn’t work at all or made my skin worse. When I do write and say I found some that I love, I really mean it.
I recently had the chance to try some Annmarie Skin Care products and I was SO excited. (I keep a running list of brands that I would love to try and they have been at the top for quite some time.)
Full disclosure, I was gifted samples and if you decide to buy any of their products through the links on this page, I will receive a small commission. Please believe me when I say that I wouldn’t endorse these if I didn’t love them.
For reference: I have slightly sensitive, acne-prone skin that needs some anti-aging help. I have tried all products for at least a month to give them time to see how they actually affect my skin.
Overall, I was very pleased with all of the products that I tried.
Here is the most impressive thing though: NONE of these products irritated my skin. Not one!
For someone who can have pretty sensitive skin when trying new products, this is HUGE! Not only did I see visible results with these products, but I didn’t have to deal with any unpleasant side effects or irritation. Annmarie Skin Care for the WIN! When I have friends that are transitioning to healthier products, I love to have a list of brands to recommend and Annmarie Skin Care is now one of them.
Here are the products that I sampled and my honest thoughts.
Citrus Stem Cell Serum:
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this product. This is honestly the product that I was most excited to try. Last year I got a very small sample of a citrus based serum from another company that I loved, but it was WAY out of my price range. Since then, I have been on the hunt for a similar one. I honestly think that this product works just as well (if not better) than the more expensive brand. I apply it after I wash and toner and the serum really left my skin with a dewy glow without being greasy. It did minimize my pores some, though not quite as much as I had hoped. I plan to make this a staple in my skincare routine.
Citrus Mint Cleanser:
I liked this! I honestly didn’t think I would at first, but I ended up liking it. One of the things I found was that it was a little bit too drying for my face, but I think if you had slightly more acne-prone skin than I do, it would be about perfect.
Aloe Herb Cleanser:
This is a moisturizing cleanser designed specifically to not strip your skin of beneficial oils. It was really nice if my face felt a little dry from the cold winter air because it didn’t dry my face out too much! In fact, I do think that the calendula in this helped to heal a little post-Christmas diet-induced eczema I dealt with. However, if I was already having some acne, this did not help. I think if you had a little less acne prone skin than I do, this would be a great fit.
Rosemary Toning Mist:
I really liked this too! I usually used this in the morning as sometimes rosemary can have an awakening effect on me. It helped to balance out the pH of my skin without making it feel too taught or dry like some toners that I have tried. I loved the combo of white willow bark with its anti-inflammatory effects and rosemary distillate for increasing circulation.
Neroli Toning Mist:
I think between the two toners that I tried, this was my favorite. It just felt luxurious. Neroli essential oil is particularly good for sensitive skin (which I have). In the past, some toners have irritated my face around my lips causing a little bit of an eczema episode. This did not irritate my skin at ALL! Though it did not have quite the pore minimizing effect that I was hoping for, I do think that it helped the overall texture and appearance of my skin.
Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin:
This was the dark horse product that I sampled. I’ve tried oil-based moisturizers for acne-prone skin before and liked them, okay, but they seemed to take a while to soak in and left me feeling slightly oily. NOT THIS. It soaked in SUPER quickly when applied after toner and sometimes serum. Some oil-based moisturizers make my skin feel heavy, but not this! I mostly used it at night, but when I woke up in the morning my skin felt SOOOO soft, supple, and just overall healthy.
If you are looking to make the transition to clean skin care, I really believe that Annmarie Skin Care is a great brand to start with. Their products are clean, effective, high quality and still at a reasonable price point.
Have you tried any Annmarie Skin Care products? Are there any others that you would like to see a review on?
